Design Miami/Design in Miami

ARTtuesdays/Miami October 14

Is Miami a center of design? It is the birthplace of the world’s foremost design exhibition, home to one of the oldest modern design stores (dormant now but on its way back to us), a showplace for talents from around the world, and an incubator of local creativity.

Author, editor, and architecture critic Beth Dunlop will moderate a panel discussion featuring:

Alexandra Cunningham Cameron is the Creative Director of the Design Miami/ fairs. She designs the curatorial program for both Miami and Basel and oversees the company’s year-round events, editorial and international activations.

Marianne Russell is vice president of the Arango Design Foundation. A native of Denmark, she is the co-owner (with her husband David) of  the arango design store, reopening Fall 2014 in South Miami. She is also principal curator of the arango collection, and of the Arango Design Foundation’s permanent and contextual collections.

Thais Fontenelle
is a Brazilian design curator based in Miami, where she worked at major design showroom and architectural offices on award winning projects and installations. In 2010 she channeled her cultural interest into a new initiative, founding Inventory, an ongoing design exhibit of limited edition and short production run objects sourced from designers all over the globe.

Nina Johnson-Milewski

is the owner of Gallery Diet in Wynwood. She is the publisher and founder of the Miami Rail and a Miami native. This year she will present the work of Emmett Moore at Design Miami/.

Beth Dunlop

is editor of MODERN Magazine, a quarterly publication devoted to design, architecture, and the decorative arts and published in New York.  The longtime architecture critic of The Miami Herald, she was also editor of HOME Miami Magazine and is the author of numerous books on architecture.
